Translation Festival, Exeter: 27 September 2019

I am looking forward to the Exeter 2019 Translation Festival: Languages in Motion.
I will be involved in two events: a screening of Africa is You. The Somali Dutch Community in Birmingham, U.K., with a Q&A afterwards, and a open conversation called Macedonia Express: Colour, Sound, Vision, Texture, and Smell as Foundational Elements of Language.
During Macedonia Express, a plurilingual group existing of an author (Shirin Ramzanali Fazel), a translation expert (Professor Loredana Polezzi) and a filmmaker/researcher (myself) will start a discussion exploring specific words and their connotations in various languages – including the translation from oral or written words into film and music. It will be a true macedonia (as in, a mixture of different fruits) as everyone present will be able to bring a word of translation into the mix.

The film screening will take place in Exeter Phoenix in Studio 74 Cinema at 11 am, and Macedonia Express will take place in the same cinema and studio at 13.00. I hope to see many there.
